Day trip to Red Hill
Only an hour’s drive from Caroline Brighton & Sandringham is Red Hill on the stunning Mornington Peninsula. With an abundance of farm to table opportunities, this area is a foodie haven. You can easily spend a weekend and not see everything this region has on offer so we thought we would share some of our tried and tested favourites for some inspiration!
Sunny Ridge Strawberry Farm boasts a wide variety of fruity goods not just the best strawberries around! If you like the hands on experience of picking your own, they do have a season for “U-Pick”, where you can grab a basket and get picking!
Main Ridge Dairy produces some of the best goats cheese in the region and even gives you the chance to meet the goats that produce the amazing cheeses. Can’t decide which cheese you would like? Try a tasting platter and enjoy sampling the gorgeous range.
Green Olive at Red Hill is a great stop for lunch or to continue stocking up your pantry. Olives, oil and chutneys are in abundance here. Stop for a meal or snack and sample the wares, they use most of their produce on the menu, with seating surrounded by their extensive veggie patch.
Now that you have the makings for a delicious platter the options for wine are endless! Be curious and go explore the cellar door opportunities but don’t miss out on these few;
Ten minutes by tractor has a lovely range and also provides a fine dining option for lunch – book in advance to ensure you are not disappointed!
Crittenden Estate Winery is picture perfect and offers great flight options to sample their range. Many a wedding has been hosted here and its not hard to see why!
A hidden gem that is a must to visit is Ocean Eight winery, tucked away in the valley. They have a lovely small selection and are a small 8 acre family run vineyard.
Remember not to drink and drive, if you are planning on visiting as many cellar doors as possible, best to draw straws for a designated driver!
